General notes

• The basics are working though the site is not fully tested by any means.
• BDSS should work from any virtual directory, more testing of this is required.
• Only the password is checked to get into the settings page. The default password for this is status and may be changed in the web config.
• Cookie always set with 14 day expiration.
• Checks are run based on frequency set (in minutes)
• A background task is spawned when /status page is visited which will run checks. This can be disabled with an option in web.config
• To automate checks, set any service to GET /bdssapi/run, this will run checks. Scheduling cURL or a service like pingdom is great for this. /bdssapi/run will return the number of checks processed.
• A sample site has been setup at http://bdss.brettski.com
  • /status page check disabled
  • /bdssapi/run is hit every two minutes.
  • database is reset to a default configuration daily
  • password status

ASP.NET MVC3
App_data folder must have create and modify rights
